RIO DE JANEIRO (The News Desk) – In a display of global brotherhood and unity, hundreds of millions of people around the world were brought together on Friday by a shared belief that hosting the Olympics is probably a bad idea in general.
“It feels like every four years, all of humanity drops what they’re doing, turns on the TV, and acknowledges how terrible it must be for cities to host the Olympic games,” Fijian lawyer Aiyaz Mohammed told press while watching the opening ceremonies in Rio on Friday.
“It makes you realize that we are all one.”
“Peace. Human rights. A general feeling that the Olympics are bad for cities. These are beliefs that all people share, and that bring us closer together,” said Brazilian musician Alim Vital.
“It’s making me a little bit weepy just thinking about it.” ♦
